Carlo Valtolina

In 1966, Carlo Valtolina graduates in Civil Engineering from “Politecnico di Milano” Technical University.
Over the years, he has gained considerable experience in design and project management and has realized a wide range of projects, of different scale and typology, both in Italy and abroad: his works include office buildings for important clients such as banks and telephone companies, master planning, and industrial buildings for major Italian companies in Italy, Europe and Asia.
In the housing sector he has designed and supervised the renovation and construction of private houses, residential buildings and resorts. Moreover, he has worked for a number of clients in the institutional and retail sectors.
He has also supervised several testings for works in the public as well private sector, such as Fondazione E.N.P.A.M. (Social Security Department for Physicians and Dental Practitioners), and the hospital Ospedale di Circolo Fondazione Macchi in Varese, which is currently in progress.
In addition to design, he carries out a number of activities for several institutions: he collaborated with several study committee for Milan Chamber of Commerce, for the Italian Institute for Statistics and for the Muncipality of Milan.
In 1988 he started collaborating with Collegio degli Ingegneri e Architetti di Milano (Milan Board of Engineers and Architects) as coordinator of the analysis report on building costs. He was later appointed member of the Board and since 2003 he has held the position of Deputy Chairman.

Umberto Freddi

Born in Bologna in 1975, during his last university year he works with studio Ricerca e Progetto in Bologna, increasing his knowledge of sustainable technologies in architectural design.
In 2000 he graduates in Architecture – Engineering from Bologna University with a thesis concerning the renovation of an office building and the design of a new façade system.
He then obtains his chartered status and enters the international competitions Central Glass – International Design Competition and TIA – Sustainable Building for the 2000.
In 2001 he begins to collaborate with Carlo Valtolina as a designer and project manager for different projects including several offices and industrial buildings, such as the headquarters and call centers of Vodafone, among  others, those in Catania and Milan.
In 2004 he works abroad, thus broadening his experience. In the same year he’s member designer of Frank Gehry team which came second at the Competition for the New Seat of Lombardy Region in Milan.
He has been member of Collegio degli Ingegneri e Architetti di Milano (Milan Board of Engineers and Architects) since 2003.
